Obistar (near side) on the Gallops

Today we have two jumps cards at Exeter and Towcester.  They are both stiff tracks and with the going very testing if you are having a bet then make sure your selections stay!  David runs Obistar in the 1.35pm race at Exeter, the only runner of the day.  He was second last time out at Carlisle.  He is stepping up in trip today but should handle the ground and run okay with Tom Scu on board.  Our yard sponsors, Bathwick Tyres sponsor all seven races at Exeter this afternoon.  What would these tracks do without them?  They sponsor a lot of races throughout the west country, flat and jumps so I hope you buy your tyres from them?!  Tell them Chester sent you!! Sounds like that Darren Clarke golf advert!

There is also racing in Ireland today.  Have a look at the Navan card.  The prize money is outstanding.  £10,000 is the smallest prize on offer with £100,000 the biggest and three races worth over £30,000.  Why does Gordon Elliott keep coming over here to win our tiny prize money?  Maybe it is the free board and lodgings he gets at Pond House!  If you are going to have a bet at Navan my spy in the Mullins camp tells me Milsean should win the 12.25 maiden hurdle.  This ex pointer can jump and should take all the beating.

I see that the Nicosia Racing Club is looking for a senior steward.  I have been racing at the track in Cyprus with MCP.  It was an evening fixture but it was still the hottest I have ever been at the races!  You have got to like the heat if you are interested in this job, my wife will probably apply!  It also says retired persons may also apply!

There is some car race in Abu Dhabi today.  It is double points on offer so Lewis Hamilton must finish the race ahead of team mate Nico Rosberg.  If Rosberg should win the race, Hamilton must finish second to win the drivers championship.  He has to finish fifth if Rosberg finishes second, sixth or above if Rosburg is not in the top two, 8th or better if Rosberg is not on the podium, finish ninth or higher if Rosberg finishes 5th.  It seems straight forward to me!!!  It is a bit lie Jockey Club rules!

The football game of today in Crystal Palace versus Liverpool at 1.30pm.  both clubs are struggling with just five points between them.  It should be an interesting watch.
