Yesterday the stable had a winner at Stratford with Street Entertainer (pictured above) recording his third success of the season by winning the seller with very little difficulty - I wish that all odds-on shots would win like this.  He looks a cut above this class and should continue to pay his way.  Meanwhile, I thought that bumper winner Mount Haven also ran a good race to finish second in the maiden hurdle.  It looked like a good race on paper and he certainly looks more than capable of winning again.

The stable has no runners this afternoon, but even so Tom Scudamore has picked up a couple of nice mounts at Uttoxeter this afternoon - both look to have chances.  Allycat is favourite in the last - a first time out bumper horse for Rebecca Curtis and a half-brother to David's Grade winning hurdler The Liquidator, out of the mare Alikat who was trained at Pond House by Martin.

Today we have four meetings taking place, with two on flat at Newmarket and Wolverhampton as well as National Hunt action from Wetherby and Uttoxeter.  The most prize money on offer today (unsurprisingly) is in Ireland at Down Royal & Dundalk.  I see that some of our flat jockeys seem to have migrated for the winter - some are riding at Jebel Ali but most of the top flat boys are at Santa Anita in America for the first day of their Breeders' Cup spectacular.

Apparently former Manchester United footballer Roy Keane was asked to appear in I'm A Celebrity - imagine being in the jungle with him!  He would be wilder than most of the animals in the Australian outback.  Wouldn't it have been great if they had managed to get Sir Alex in the jungle with him!  I have always thought that Keane could start an argument in a phone box.

Can you believe that former world champion Mark Williams managed to beat Ronnie O'Sullivan in the quarter finals of the International Snooker Championship in China.  Williams had previously lost sixteen times to the Rocket and he was quoted afterwards as saying, "I was delighted to finally get rid of that pain in the arse"!  Quote of the day as far as I am concerned...

I am going to a halloween curry night at David's tonight - that should put the wind up a few of the guests!  I have a great outfit organised but was most upset when Mrs Barnes told me that I would not need a mask to complete the look.  Little Jack Pipe tells me that he will be dressed as a skeleton and informs me that I must call him 'bones'!  At the age of four, I don't know where they get their sense of humour from!

Did you manage to guess who the lady jockey pictured with me and Martin at Newmarket Sales earlier this week was?  It was former champion lady amateur and five time winner of Ascot's Diamond Day ladies' race, Maxine Cowdrey (nee Juster).  Well done if you got it right and a bonus point if you knew that she was married to former Kent cricketer Graham Cowdrey!
