Today there are four meetings taking place with three of them on the level at Newmarket, Pontefract and Kempton and a National Hunt fixture from Perth.  The stable has one more runner at Perth this afternoon as Ainsi Fideles bids to extend his unbeaten run over fences to five in the 2m4f novices' chase at 3.55pm.  This represents another step up the ladder as he takes on last year's Newbury Betfair Hurdle winner Splash Of Ginge.  Ainsi Fideles has looked like a different horse since switching to the larger obstacles, winning four on the bounce and he produced his best performance to date last time when giving the useful Lamb Or Cod a decisive beating.  It will take a good one to beat him.

I see that the BHA are going to withdraw the right to self-certificate the horses from trainers Jim Best and Gaye Kelleway.  Personally I always thought that it was a poor decision to let trainers decide if they run or not - I still think it should be the vets job.  Then there would be no problems and everything would be transparent.

The Racing Post have an ante-post feature for the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day and they are advising punters to have a wager on our Ryanair Chase winner Dynaste at odds of around 12/1.  I must admit, I am not a big fan of ante-post betting personally and would generally rather back one at a shorter price nearer the time when I know that the horse is definitely going to run.  I once backed three horses ante-post for the same race and none of them ran!

I see that our Ryder Cup team all play table tennis at Gleneagles.  I wish I could sneak into the hotel...I reckon I might even be able to earn a few quid!  They tell me that Stenson is the best of them.  Following all the media hype around this weekend's competition, let's hope that the action lives up to the billing!

Finally, a golf related thought for the day...If golf is a rich man's game, why are there so many poor players?!  Have a nice day...
