Sam Matthews

Sam Matthews leading in the winner Its Tough

Sam started working for us here in January 2008 as a Stable Lad after previously working and riding out for Stuart Kittow and Henrietta Knight.  He’s a local lad whose parents live near Cullompton, and train point-to-pointers.  This is where Sam has got his enthusiasm for riding from.  Born in November 1989, Sam grew up with horses and ponies, riding from a very early age.  As he grew older, he started riding his parents’ point-to-pointers, and so far he has had twenty rides, of which he has achieved three winners.  What a grand sense of achievement for the whole family!

Sam has been a great addition to the Pipe team with his wonderful sense of fun.  He enjoys looking after Quarry Town and Its Tough, and has a soft spot for them, especially so since Its Tough’s great performance, winning at Sedgefield on 24th September.  Perhaps this it what feeds Sam’s ambition to become an amateur jockey, and get that winning feeling again with some more point-to-point rides.  Good luck Sam.
