Jon has
been working here for the Pipe team since January 2005
and has enjoyed all the successful times that have been
shared here in the yard throughout his time here. He
remembers clearly the day when he lead up Osana to win
the Boylesports Hurdle last season, and he says he
really enjoyed leading up at the Cheltenham Festival
too, at both meetings there was such a great
atmosphere.
For the
day to day routine at Pond House, Jon confesses that the
best horse to look after is his favourite horse, Prince
De Bersy because he has looked after him since the day
he arrived and they know each other well!
Jon
is originally from Basingstoke, born on 4th
May 1989, he gained an understanding of horses from an
early age as his father is a very keen racing fan and
passed on his interest to Jon. As a result, Jon soon
became involved with horses, joining the Pony club,
hunting and following the racing, something he clearly
still enjoys, although he had a very different
experience of a day at the races with his family
compared to his day out now! He decided then, that he
wanted to work with horses, gaining experience and
riding out at Alan King, Jonathan Geake and Andrew
Balding’s yards before joining us at Pond House.
Jon intends to continue working with horses and plans to
complete his NVQ 3 soon. In the future he would love to
make a name for himself as a good point to point rider
and progress to be a successful jockey.
