Jill Ellis

Jill, our Travelling Head Girl, joined the Pond House team in May 2006. A local girl having been born in Exeter, she became interested in horse racing whilst still at school when she went to work at a point-to-point yard at weekends.

Jill has worked previously for Terry and Stuart Pattemore’s point-to-point & NH yards after which came a stint as Head Girl at both the Sue Howard and Rose Vickery pointing yards. She was Secretary/Head Girl to Rupert Nuttall which involved buying and selling dairy cows and training timber racing horses/pointers. Interestingly Jill then worked as Secretary for Graeme Harrison, an international stamp dealer. But the racing world obviously beckoned for Jill as she later went to work at Jamie Osbourne’s establishment in Lambourn as Travelling Head Girl before coming here to Pond House.

One of the best horses Jill has looked after is Indianapolis which won the Schweppes Hurdle at Newbury before winning six point-to-points for Terry Pattemore in his first pointing season. Her favourite horse in David’s yard is Milan Deux Mille.

One of the best moments in racing for Jill was the day she drove three horses all the way up to Carlisle and came home with three winners !! Not a bad day’s work.

A keen reader, Jill hopes to be at Pond House for many years to come, in fact, until she’s ready to push up the daisies !!
