Hadden Frost, born 19th July
1990 has a wonderful racing pedigree. Son of Jimmy Frost
(winning jockey of the 1989 Grand National aboard Little
Polveir and the 1991Champion Hurdle on Morley Street), and
grandson of Richard Frost, a successful local racehorse
trainer, it was always likely that Hadden would follow in
his illustrious family’s footsteps.
Hadden himself started out as an
apprentice on the flat for former champion trainer Richard
Hannon, and rode 49 winners on the level and participated in
many of the flat’s big races including the Stewards Cup at
Goodwood. |
|
Hadden chose to leave Richard Hannon’s
outfit when weight became an issue. He is a tall lad for a
flat jockey, and wasting to do the light weights the flat
demands took its toll. Hence he came to Pond House with
aspirations of becoming a jump jockey like his father.
Horse racing certainly runs through
Hadden’s veins – he lists his hobbies as racing and watching
racing, he is not interested in football, and his most
enjoyable moments have come when he is riding winners. |

Hadden’s favourite horses are Grand
National hero Comply Or Die and Redolent from his time at
Richard Hannon’s yard. He claims that the best horse he has
looked after since arriving at Pond House is the grey
ex-French gelding, Idian Mix.
Hadden currently holds a conditional
jockey’s licence, and he has already ridden a couple of
winners, including Pond House inmate Loom (pictured left) at
Sedgefield at the beginning of September ’08. He has |
|
an impressive CV for one so young, and
Hadden is keen to add to that in the future by becoming a
fully-fledged jump Jockey – judging by his past successes
and his impeccable pedigree, you wouldn’t bet against him
achieving it! |
