We can remember her very first day here vividly as she was holding a horse who had a cut and some blood appeared and Mandy fell flat on the concrete. She passed out at the sight of blood and was a very nervous girl. Mr Pipe can remember driving her back to the hostel and being very worried.
Mandy went to the Newmarket Racing School and thought it was horrible, she said they didn't live in the real world and wasted time putting the horses beds straight and not enough time taking temperatures and the more important things. She reckons our headman Eddie Buckley taught her a lot more and gave her far more confidence.
Mandy's first ride was a favourite of hers, Arbor Vitae belonging to the Martin Pipe Racing Club. The best horse she has galloped was the now retired Golden Alpha who was a bold front-runner who pulled quite hard. During Mandy's years at Pond House she has looked after many good horses including the top class Valiramix and Tresor De Mai.
Mandy married her partner Michael Hutchings in 2006 and they live in the local village of Hemyock. Mandy does not have much time for hobbies as she has a daughter, Sapphire who was born in 2000.
