There are three meetings taking place this afternoon, strangely all over the sticks with the action coming from Fontwell, Kelso and Uttoxeter.  David has one runner at Uttoxeter; Vaniteux who contests the 2m4f handicap chase at 3.40pm.  It is the Sir Stanley and Lady Clarke Challenge Trophy.  Sir Stanley and Lady Clarke were tremendous supporters at Pond House for many years and had some great horses that ran in their colours including the likes of Rolling Ball and Lord Relic - it would be fabulous if we could win the race run in their honour.  Vaniteux finished third last time and is dangerously handicapped on the best of his form - he wouldn't want too much rain however.

The big race of the day is the Irish 1,000 Guineas from the Curragh.  Aidan O'Brien must be running out of horses - he only has four of the thirteen runner field!  Just think, it must be amazing to have four horses good enough to contest these races.  I would think that Ryan Moore has his pick and he has chosen Happily which appears to be a tip in itself.

I see that Oisin Murphy is riding at Sha Tin today.  One day it's Bath, the next Sha Tin.  It's a tough life being a top flat jock!#

Disgraced Aussie cricketers Steve Smith and David Warner are off to Canada to play in the T20 league in the summer.  I thought they were banned from playing for a year, but it is only for domestic overseas games.  This T20 league starts on 28th Jun and it is a six team competition - there must be plenty of money involved.

Tackling above the nipple could be banned in rugby under new safety regulations being tried out next week.  It is aimed at reducing the number of hear injuries...I wonder if it is the same for lady rugby players?!
