There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Carlisle and Ffos Las.  We have three runners at Ffos Las; Great Tempo, Garran City and Saint John Henry.  Great Tempo contests the 2m conditional jockeys' race at 2.15pm and he would have to improve on the form he has show recently to figure.  He does have ability however and is a winner on heavy ground, so he should at least handle conditions better than most and could surprise a few under Michael Heard who claims a handy 3lbs off his back.  Flanagan's Field looks to be the one to beat.  Garran City produced a very good performance when a close third in a decent looking contest at Chepstow recently following a long absence and he should be spot-on for this 2m4f novices' hurdle.  He should go close under Tom Scudamore.  Saint John Henry runs in the 2m7f handicap chase and the form of his Chepstow success first time out would give him a chance although he needs to improve on his most recent efforts to figure.

If you are thinking of going to Ffos Las this afternoon, make sure that you allow plenty of time to get there...it is literally in the middle of nowhere and the road network leading to it is not the best either!  The ground is officially heavy, so it is going to be very testing and you will need a horse that likes it bottomless.

I hear that 240,000 pints of Guinness were consumed at the Cheltenham Festival this week.  You wouldn't think that one man could drink that many pints!  He must have been celebrating all of the Irish winners!

Mark Hughes has been offered a short-term contract at Southampton.  I have said it countless times in the past, a football manager's job has to be one of the best gigs in the world.  You can do a sub-standard job, get a 'golden handshake' and get another job straight away after.  Name another job where that happens.  I wish I had been a footballer instead of a ping pong player.

I am going to have a few quid on Leicester at 5/2 and Wigan at 14/5 to beat Southampton today.  You heard it here first.
