There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with the action on coming on the flat from Yarmouth, Redcar, Chepstow and Newcastle.  David has a rare runner on the flat this afternoon as Work takes in the second division of the staying handicap at Chepstow at 5.25pm.  She was a winner over this trip last season at Chelmsford and while she has a higher handicap mark to deal with, she certainly won't be beaten for want of stamina.  Pat Dobbs is in the saddle once again and she has place claims at a decent price.

I see that there is still a real stink about the Craig David concert at Lingfield last weekend...maybe that is because all of the ladies perfume was confiscated before the gig?!  With so little in the way of toilet facilities I would have thought they would have welcomed some fresh scents.  One racegoer contacted Lingfield yesterday stating that she had an almost full bottle of Chanel perfume (costing £62) and an umbrella (costing £22) taken from her, meaning she was £84 down before she walked through the gates.  Lingfield were refusing to return the items so I wonder what they did with it all?

I see the Racing Post are advertising desirable number plates again.  The plate available is HOR5E X - just be careful not to move the letters too much as it is against the law, as I found much to my own cost!  I had a plate that read MR CB and I was stopped by the police the first day it was on my car!

I was looking at the prices of the EFL Cup and there are certainly some tempting prices.  The biggest problem punters have however is that we don't know how seriously the managers are going to take the tournament and the strength of the sides they are going to put out.  Wigan at 4/7 and Hibernian at 3/10 should show me a profit.

I see that Wayne Rooney has been disqualified for driving for 2 years and forced to do 100 hours community service after admitting drink driving.  I wonder if that means he will be back working on the bins?  Mind you, Everton are a load of rubbish at the moment so he probably wouldn't notice much difference!

Not many people know this but I used to work in a health shop.  People would often come in and say "Evening primrose oil?"  I would reply, "Please call me Chester".  Keep smiling...
