I'm afraid you are out of luck if you are a fan of the jumps again today.  There are six meetings taking place but they are all on the level with the action coming from Newbury, Haydock, Nottingham, Hamilton, Newmarket and Pontefract.  With a dearth of jumps fixtures, it is unsurprising that there are no runners from Pond House today.  Let's hope there is no controversy at any of the meetings like there was yesterday at Killarney.  The stewards there took the remarkable decision to void the race 20 minutes after it had finished...lots of bookmakers on and off course had already paid out.

The fiasco occurred when Stars Over The Sea was led in and got a good start to the qualified riders flat race.  Correct me if I am wrong, but that has happened for years in jump racing without a problem.  Furthermore, if the starter was not happy with it, why on earth did he not call them back?  It is one of those occasions when there will be lots of opinions and they will all be different.

I see that it is my old mate Gino Paletta's 58th birthday today.  Gino plays landlord to us every year for the three days of the Grand National meeting at Aintree and is a fantastic character.  Furthermore, he is lucky enough to be part-owner of that fantastic horse, The New One.  Speaking of which, did I mention that it was about time you had another horse with David, Gino?!

There was a seller at Leicester yesterday and even though it was sadly over too short a distance to be of interest to the jumps trainers, it did provide an interesting result nevertheless.  The race was won by Major Cornwallis yet it was the second, Supreme Power who was subsequently claimed by David Tate for £8,000.  I always find it odd when that happens, although the second will certainly win races.

I see that Rory McIlroy's caddie laid into him after he was five over par after just six holes during the first round of the Open.  The Irishman ended up with a score of 71 which was a good effort if you saw the way he was playing.  Even so, he is still 6 shots behind the leader Jordan Spieth.  Spieth is 21/20 for today's three balls and I will be having a cheeky little treble on him with Justin Rose at 13/10 and Ian Poulter at 6/4.

Yesterday I fired the cleaner...I'm glad that is done and dusted!  Have a nice day...
