There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Carlisle, Redcar, Windsor and Leicester while there is also jumps action from Towcester.  David does not have any runners today although I notice that Pond House jockey David Noonan has picked up a nice outside ride aboard Taurian in the 4.30pm at Towcester.

I thought that Abracadabra Sivola ran a cracker at Uttoxeter on Saturday evening in a competitive staying chase, finishing third beaten only 3 1/2 lengths - he is a little in and out but if he can replicate this sort of performance next time he would hold excellent claims.  Meanwhile, Stay Out Of Court looked as though he did not quite get the marathon trip of 3m2 1/2f at Stratford yesterday as he finished fifth.

Racing Post journalist Steve Dennis was down at Pond House recently and the resulting piece about Martin is in today's Post.  It is a double page feature and makes for good reading.

It looks as though 2,000 Guineas hero Churchill will be heading to the Curragh on Saturday to try to complete a famous Guineas double so it looks as though the Epsom Derby is off the agenda.

Many happy returns to stable jockey Tom Scudamore (pictured above) who is 35 today - it looks as though Tom is going to be making a day of it as he has no rides booked for this afternoon!

What a performance from Premier League champions Chelsea as they beat Sunderland 6-1.  It didn't look like it was going to finish that way for much of the match, especially as Sunderland were 1-0 ahead.  They look worthy champions and it was a great send off for Chelsea legend John Terry.  Meanwhile, it was not such good news for Arsenal fans as they miss out on Champions League football for the first time in 20 years.  Laurent Koscielny's madness in the first half of their match saw him get his marching orders and he will miss the FA Cup Final to boot...surely things can only get better for the Gunners?

I was watching the Rocco Forte Golf Open yesterday and I don't think I have ever seen a player bottle things to the extent of Alvaro Quiros who dropped six shots over the last eleven holes.  In fairness, he did get his act together to win in a play-off but things should never have become that tight...it was his first win since 2011 - talk about tense!
