Today we have five meetings taking place with flat cards from Kempton, Pontefract, Windsor and Lingfield as well as a jumps fixture from Warwick. David has two runners at Warwick this afternoon; Chic Theatre and Herbert Park. Chic Theatre contests the 2m3f handicap hurdle at 2.20pm - he was a winner at Market Rasen from a mark of 115 so today's mark of 119 does not look out of the question, while this slight drop in trip could also help. Meanwhile, Herbert Park runs in the 3m5f handicap chase and he has the ability to be involved and will appreciate the good ground. Tom Scudamore is aboard both of our runners.

Talking of Tom Scu, he is now on 97 winners for the season and is closing in on another ton.  He has until the weekend to find three more winners and he will be travelling the length and breadth of the country in search of them.

The battle for the trainers title is getting closer after the weekend with Nicky Henderson now leading Paul Nicholls by just over £170,000.  Both trainers are playing it down with Henderson saying it is not over and Nicholls saying it is not over.  The bookies clearly think it is over with Henderson a 1/10 chance to be ahead where it matters.

The big fight over the weekend saw flat jockeys William Carson and Simon Pearce slug it out.  Carson won on points and between them the two jockeys raised over £2,000.  There was a sell-out crowd of 300 at the Innocence night club in Newmarket and looking at the two girls in the ring after the fight, I don't think I would like to fight either one of them!

Arsenal beat Manchester City 2-1 in extra time in their FA Cup semi-final yesterday and now take on Chelsea in the final.  The big question is whether Wenger will lift the Cup and leave the Gunners?  The answer to both of those questions could be no.

It seems that the years have not made Ilie Nastase any calmer.  The Romanian team captain has been suspended after swearing at the umpire and insulting Johanna Konta and was yesterday thrown out of the VIP lounge - he always used to look on the verge of exploding during his playing days but he may very well have gone over the top this time.

So, it was another gorgeous weekend on the English Riviera and I went down to the local ice-cream shop and said, "I want to buy an ice cream please".  He said, "Do you want hundreds and thousands?"  I said, "We'll start with one!"
