Today we have four meetings taking place with flat action from Chelmsford City, Newcastle and Brighton while there is a jumps card from Warwick.  David runs Nice Thoughts in the two mile handicap hurdle at Warwick at 3.40pm.  He was a winner on the flat and has shown a fair amount of ability thus far over hurdles without getting his head in front as yet.  His Ffos Las second reads well in the context of this race, although he was a little disappointing when only fourth at odds-on last time at Worcester.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle and a big run is anticipated.

Our two runners yesterday afternoon; Tobacco Road and Thunder Pass finished third and fourth respectively in the novices' hurdle and did enough to suggest that a little race should be within their compass somewhere.

There was a massive blow for Willie Mullins yesterday when it was announced that Gigginstown House Stud were to remove 60 horses from his care.  That is a lot of horses to lose and will seriously dent his chances of winning championships.  Five Irish trainers will take charge of the horses with Gordon Elliott expected to be one of the main beneficiaries.

Jim Crowley is flying at present, so much so that he has a couple of days left to beat Sir Anthony McCoy's best ever monthly total of 41 winners.  Crowley is picking up so many rides that he must surely do it.

I cannot believe that disgraced former England manager Sam Allardyce has picked up a £1 million payoff from the FA.  If I had been in charge I would have been demanding the money back that he has already been paid!  It's a funny old world when you can bring the game into disrepute but still get a chunky pay day out of it!  There have been more managers named and of course they are all denying it as you would expect.  The trouble is I can't believe the Telegraph would go as far as naming these people if they didn't have some fairly substantial proof.

What a great result for Celtic yesterday as they drew 3-3 with Manchester City.  My pal Sean will be on cloud nine this morning - I won't mention that it took a Sterling own goal to help with the scoreline!  There was also an entertaining match between Newcastle and Norwich with the former prevailing 4-3 with the winner coming in the 95th minute.  I'm sure our head lad Oliver will be gutted.

Not long now until the start of the Ryder Cup and I will be turning my phone off for five days so there are no interruptions!  Mrs Barnes always asks pertinent questions such as 'who's playing?'...and I am not joking!
